The Militia Immaculatae was founded on October 16, 1917 in Rome by the Franciscan Father Maximilian Kolbe, who was later canonized. He is known to many people because he voluntarily gave his life in the Auschwitz concentration camp for a fellow prisoner’s father. His life’s work, however, was the establishment of the Militia Immaculatae, a worldwide Catholic organization that aims to win all souls for the Immaculata (the Immaculate). Anyone who wants to become a member of the MI (all Catholic Christians can do this) consecrates themselves completely to the Immaculata and tries to serve her as well as an “instrument in her hands”.

In Basel, various members of MI have been meeting monthly since the end of 2019 for prayer, talks and other joint activities. If you are interested, please contact us.

Location: St. Theresia Chapel, Schliengerweg 33, 4057 Basel
